CALGARY HOT YOGA,  3803 26th Ave. SW.  686-3240

FIRST TIMER SPECIAL:   WKDAY CLASSES (9:30AM & NOON) 2ND CLASS FREE IF TAKEN IN WITHIN 2 WKS.

We are a studio that welcomes everyone.  Every ability, every age, every size, every shape.  Our studio has students of all types from world class athletes to weekend athletes....truck drivers, nurses, bankers, students, stay at home mom's (and dad's) entrepreneurs, servers, you name it..... just some pretty neat people.   We are a community based studio that focuses on people first, and creating an environment were everyone feels welcome.   When you come to our studio the first thing you will notice is how it just feels just like a normal place, not intimidating or flashy, just a simple welcoming studio.  We are open, kind, committed and non judgmental.   We like to really see people, and encourage them to succeed.  We push people to go beyond what they might otherwise think they can, and transform their bodies in the process.  Our instructors have all had extensive training, but more importantly, are selected to teach based on commitment to the goals of acceptance of all, living in integrity, and being of service!   At our studio our classes are hot and high in humidity, which facilitates the flushing of the entire system.  After each class there is no doubt you had a great class in a hot and humid environment!

WHICH CLASS IS BEST FOR ME:  SH or VF:   The SH (Standard Hot) and the VF (Vinyasa flow) classes are both designed for beginners as well as those who have been practicing for many years.   Both classes are done in the heat and beginners can come to either class.   Some people find the Standard Hot classes a bit easier for the first time.  The classes are energizing and invigorating, just be patient with your body and rest as needed.   The first several classes can be fairly challenging, but once you get use to the heat and humidity you will be pleasantly surprised at how the classes will change your body and mind.   We recommend trying both classes fairly early in your practicing at the studio.  For best results you should try to include both types of yoga in your practice schedule.

--65 or 90 MINUTE CLASS??    To get the maximum benefits the 90 minute classes are the best.   This is the optimum amount of time needed to get a complete warm-up, cool down, and full workout of the entire system, inside out, every muscle, organ, joint of the body....to flush and detoxify the entire system out to a cellular level.   Yoga is a process that needs time to do the work!  The 65 min classes are a good "tune-up" in-between the full classes, and sometimes are a little easier to start with for people who are not quite ready for a full class.    Taking the 90 minute class will give maximum benefits.

--Bring a LARGE TOWEL, yoga mat, and water (or we also rent mats for $1.00 and sell water at the studio).

--Before and After Class:   We allow for a 1/2 hr between classes so there is ample time to enter the room 10-15 mins prior to class for a savasana (little rest) prior to class to allow the body to acclimate to the heat.  We also reserve 10 mins for the final Savasana after each class ....which is the most important part of the yoga class!   This final Savasana is where the body absorbs all of the benefits of the class.  The final Savasana is the most challenging pose, and the most important pose of any yoga class!   But the one that will transform your life!  So feel free to enjoy your Savasana before and after class.

--During class:  Rest as much as you need to.  Just lie down on your mat.  Feel free to drink water in class (after your warm-up).  Please try to stay in the yoga room to help your body acclimate to the heat.  If you need to leave the yoga room for any reason let the instructor know prior to leaving.

--Is hot yoga for everyone?   If you take your time and rest a bit during the first few classes, your body will acclimate to the heat.  We do not recommend Hot Yoga if you are pregnant or if you have any kind of medical conditions, like high blood pressure, where exercising in the heat and high humidity would not be recommended.  As always, it is important to speak to your physician prior to undertaking a new exercise program to make sure you do not have any underlying medical reasons that would restrict you from taking part in a heated class.

--Where to park:  We have plenty of parking in the large parking lot behind the studio.  You can park in that lot (or in the front lot facing the street).  Please do not park in front of the stores or restaurants or anywhere where their is a 15min parking sign.  Your car may be ticketed and/or towedThere is plenty of parking in the middle of the back lot.

--Come to class hydrated, drinking plenty of water before class.

--All classes drop-in.  No registration needed.  Come 15 minutes prior to your first class.

--Come prepared to sweat and work hard and have fun!
